AI assistants

Plan with your AI assistant

Ask your assistant for a cut list, a nest, or a load. It plans through NestSolver, with the same rules and limits as the web, and reads the plan back to you.

Free with an account.

01 Three steps

Sign in or make a key

Claude and ChatGPT sign in to your account when you add NestSolver. Other assistants use a key from the API keys page, shown once.

Add the server

Give your assistant NestSolver's address, with one of the setups below.

Ask

Ask for a cut list, a nest, or a load in your own words. It plans and reads the plan back.

02 Add the server

The server is at https://mcp.nestsolver.com/. Claude and ChatGPT sign in to your account when you add it. Every other client sends your key with every call as Authorization: Bearer <key>. Pick your assistant:

Claude and Claude Desktop

Open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. Paste this address, choose Connect, then sign in to NestSolver and pick a workspace. No key needed.

Connector address
https://mcp.nestsolver.com

ChatGPT

In ChatGPT's settings, turn on Developer mode, in the advanced settings for apps and connectors. Add a connector with the same address and pick OAuth. Then sign in to NestSolver and pick a workspace.

Connector address
https://mcp.nestsolver.com

Claude Code

Run this once in a terminal:

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http nestsolver https://mcp.nestsolver.com/ --header "Authorization: Bearer <key>"

Cursor

Add it in one click, then put your key in place of <key>. Or paste the block into ~/.cursor/mcp.json.

Add to Cursor
mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "nestsolver": {
      "url": "https://mcp.nestsolver.com/",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <key>" }
    }
  }
}

VS Code

Add it in one click, then put your key in place of <key>. Or paste the block into .vscode/mcp.json.

Add to VS Code
mcp.json
{
  "servers": {
    "nestsolver": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.nestsolver.com/",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <key>" }
    }
  }
}

Windsurf, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Cline, Continue

Each takes the same address and header in its MCP settings. Most read this block as it is; some name the fields a little differently, so check your client's MCP settings, or the setup guide.

JSON

      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <key>" }
    }
  }
}

The API keys page shows each of these with your key filled in, and lists the apps you connected.

03 What it can do

Your assistant picks the tool; you just ask. Free calls don't count as solves.

  • validate_linear, validate_sheet Check a linear or sheet cut list and name any problem. Free call
  • solve_linear, solve_sheet Plan a linear or sheet cut list and answer in the same call. Solve
  • start_nest Start a true-shape nest of parts on sheets. Job start · Bench plan
  • start_load Start a load of cartons, pallets, or trucks. Job start · 5 loads a month on Free
  • job_status See whether a nest or load is done. Free call
  • plan_report Read a finished plan: parts, yield, drops, and scrap. Free call
  • list_parts Find your saved parts by name, to nest them. Free call
  • list_spaces Find your saved pallets and trucks by name, to load them. Free call
  • usage See how much full-speed search is left this month. Free call

Every tool's fields are in the tools reference.

04 Things to ask

Linear cutting
Plan 12 at 47½″ and 8 at 30″ from 20′ steel tube with an ⅛″ kerf. Keep any drop over 2′.
Sheet cutting
Lay out 6 sides at 30″ × 23¼″ and 4 shelves at 22½″ × 11¼″ on 4×8 sheets of ¾″ plywood, for a panel saw.
True-shape nesting
Nest 40 of my saved bracket and 20 gussets on 48″ × 96″ sheets with ¼″ between parts.
Load planning
Load the 18 pallets on this order into my saved 53′ trailer, Dayton stop first.

05 It stays yours

  • A key acts in one workspace: the one you made it in. A connected app acts in the one you picked.
  • Revoke a key or disconnect an app any time on the API keys page, and it stops working at once.
  • Every call shows on the request logs page.
  • NestSolver runs nothing on its own: only the calls your assistant makes.

See them on the API keys and request logs pages.

06 Which plan

Free includes keys and MCP for linear and sheet cutting, and 5 loads a month, with no per-call fees on any plan. The Bench plan adds true-shape nesting and loads within its monthly pool. Calls run under your workspace's plan: its job caps, its calls a minute, and its monthly full-speed search for nests and loads, the same as the web and the API.

Compare plans or see each plan's limits.

Make a key and ask.

It takes a minute: make a key, add the server, and hand your assistant the next cut list.
